Went for the MRI this morning, expecting to be there for at least two hours. According to Uncle Michael, his MRI lasted for approximately two hours. I went equipped with my Cadmus journal and a bottle of water, expecting to pass some time before I was called back. I then planned on having a nap during the procedure since I didn't sleep all that swell last night.

I didn't even get to sit down in the waiting room. As soon as I gave my information to the receptionist, she took me right back to lock up my purse and change into a gown. I then went right into the MRI room and was positioned in the machine. The dude told me it would take about 30 minutes to do the test and, when I asked him about the two hours, he explained that full body MRIs are what take that long. Uncle Michael probably had one of those because of his stroke. That's the only explanation I can come up with. When he calls to talk to Aunt Tudi today, I'll ask him about it.

The tech asked if I wanted to listen to music and I said sure, anything but Country. He flipped the channel to an adult contemporary station that was airing the John Tesh show. This was the worst part of the MRI. I should have declined the music, but I just had to be amicable, didn't I? [livejournal.com profile] zaecus' mention of alien implants in association with his MRI combined with my exposure to the notorious alien mole John Tesh made my imagination go wild. He played songs geared to suck a person's Will to live out through the very pores of their skin.

Other than John Tesh, the test was an overall pleasant experience. I feel my best in enclosed spaces. Maybe I'd sleep better if started sleeping in a coffin.

I've had several MRIs and none of them lasted two hours either. His totally must have been something more extensive. I've never taken the music request and you make me glad I haven't - any amount of time with John Tesh would be torture.

I read a story a few years back about a group of people who picketed a John Tesh concert, claiming he was an alien spy sent ahead to prepare the way for the pending invasion of Earth. When he heard about the picketers, John Tesh went out to talk to them. The minute they saw him emerge from the venue, the protesters screamed and ran into the night, ne'er to be seen again.

Believe it or not ~ no. I'd rather hear anything, even Pat Robertson preaching, than Country music.

Glad to hear the MRI went well :)

With regards to sleeping well in enclosed spaces, its going to sound weird but have you tried pulling a blanket or pillow over your head? Joshua literally cant sleep unless he does this, because he likes the total dark and quiet, and it really helps him.

Personally, i have NO idea how he does it because the instant i fall asleep i turn into a human hot water bottle, and i cant bear not being able to have cool air on my head :p

I sleep with two pillows, one under my head and one over it, with a strategically arranged passageway through which to get fresh air.

Niacin works wonders for me. 1,500mg of the Inositol no-flush variety, and I'm out like a light in under 15 minutes.

For me that's miraculous. Lately it takes 30-60 minutes to get to sleep. Yes, Insomnia. Yes, I've had it pretty much all my life unless I'm damn exhausted and falling asleep on my feet first.

We cover the bedroom windows. It's always dark unless we turn the light on. :)
