Well, I can turn it, but I don't want to because it hurts. The doc instructed me to do stretches and rub my neck while I'm working on loosening the muscles, and I am doing all that. I just figured I wouldn't still be so stiff after these many days. I missed the bakery again this morning, but I'll be going on to the dollar store this afternoon. There's not much activity in the DG job, and things aren't time-sensitive, so I can do that. Tomorrow morning, I'm calling Dr. Yost first thing to try to get in to see him. This fairly sucks, yes it does.

We can hope that this sign isn't moot come November and that the bastard actually does vacate the White House after his time is up. I know I have all my bits crossed.

Fudge

For the first time in pernear a decade, Aunt Tudi is making her famous fudge! We're both craving chocolate like angry bitches with a grudge, but we have no money to purchase a bar, so I made the subtle suggestion that she get herself thence and use some of the cocoa we have in the cabinet to make fudge. I could have made it, but she does a much better job of it. My fudge always gets hard and is able to be cut, which I know is the proper result of fudge-making, but Aunt Tudi's fudge is incredible. You have to eat it with a spoon because it never gets solid enough to cut. It's super-gooey, like chewing on a spoonful of tar. Nothing quite measures up to Aunt Tudi's tasty chocolate masterpiece.

Here are a couple of photies of Aunt Tudi's fabulicious fudge.

Someone needs to invent some remote earbuds, based on Miracle Ear, that one can use with the iPod without fear of being caught wearing headphones. That is all.

I found parts of the old Brit movie The Ladykillers. One of my favourite scenes is here, where the thugs are introduced to Mrs. Wilberforce, then go upstairs to make music. Check out Alec Guinness' little dance once the record starts playing. And Herbert Lom... ::swoon:: Those eyes can make the coldest heart melt.

To put things into perspective about how old this movie is, the lady who played Mrs. Wilberforce, Katie Johnson, was alive to see the Jack the Ripper murders be reported. She was born in 1875 and died two years after the release of The Ladykillers in 1955. Kinda spooky to think about, really.

He was just out of his twenties here. Nothing but a wee babe.

For my own archives more than anything else because, dammit, I love Herbert Lom. I have since the mid-80s and I guess I always will.

Herbert Lom: The Odd Fellow

Herbert Lom Loses His Head

The first link is really striking because it focuses more on his early life than any other article I've come across to date.

I even wrote a poem for Herbert Lom in March of 1986, a sort of pallid response to one of my favourite poems, Sailing to Byzantium by William Butler Yeats.

I had it bad. I guess I still do.

I'm still gonna name my pet llama Herbert.

How to Win a Fight With a Conservative is the ultimate survival guide for political arguments

My Liberal Identity:

You are a Social Justice Crusader, also known as a rights activist. You believe in equality, fairness, and preventing neo-Confederate conservative troglodytes from rolling back fifty years of civil rights gains.

One of the jazziest clips you ever will see. The scat done by Louis Prima and Phil Harris is one of those moments in Entertainment than can neither be recaptured or successfully emulated. Oh, and I sincerely believe that George Lucas got his Wookiee's name from King Louis' scat earlier in the song. He repeatedly chants chewbaccachewbaccachewbacca.

There's nothing funnier than a Gay animated meerkat doing the Hula on a big pig.

One of my favourite Disney shorts for the anti-litter dance sequence. If you haven't been exposed to Humphrey the brown black bear before, you just haven't lived. And I challenge anyone who watches this to not get this song earwormed for the rest of their born days.

Another jazzy clip, this time with Phil Harris and Scatman Crothers.

We can't have cats without dogs. I'd forgotten how damned snappy these Disney songs were. That Borzoi was crazy cool in this scene.

Some of the most beautiful songs came from The Rescuers back in the 70s. This song in particular just screamed 70s to me.

As far as animation goes, Sleeping Beauty is my all-time favourite. The colour combinations along with the drawing style used for the cels are genius. Not that I'm an expert or anything, but I do know some about animation and what it entails, at least before the Rise of the Machines. This is one of Disney's best works.

Another incredible offering from the animators at Disney. This is from Fantasia, which has got to be Animation's crowning glory. Using the Mussorgsky piece, the artists truly brought to life the nightmares Mussorgsky conjured with his composition.

I can't let Fantasia with just one clip. Here's another perfect piece, "The Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy."

Let's end this party the way we began it, with some jazzy music from The Jungle Book
