Why is a thoroughly Pagan movie like Legend airing on the PAX channel, which is owned by Pat Robertson? Isn't this an obvious indication that Mr. Robinson cares more for money than his tinfoil-thin morality? Or maybe he's allowing this to be shown to draw in us godless heathens so we can enjoy the endless hypo-cristian adverts in-between acts of this absolutely wondrous movie?

I need to check out David Bennent on imdb. The only movies I've ever seen him in are The Tin Drum and Legend. He makes a fantastic Elf. Aye, true dat. I need to get the European version of Legend on DVD, the one that has the Jerry Goldsmith score and the extra Faerie footage. There are so many good things about this version, the best of which is, of course, Tim Curry. He's simply magnificent as Darkness. Hell, he could be Darth Maul's long lost daddy.

Now there's a thought to ponder at length.

Oh...Let me think...Why do Christians steal Pagan things...Like Saturnalia....or Easter....Hmm....

Yeah, I'd buy that it's partly to make fantasy fans, often notorious thinkers and heathins, be made to endure the Christian Commercial drek. I'd also pose the slightly more cynical idea, if anything could be even a smidge more cynical, that he also thinks of the villains as *more* obviously Pagan, and satanic, and Jack and the Princess as not so Pagan. Especially since Unicorns are also sometimes considered more Christian than Pagan. Something else they stole.

....I've never seen Legend...*suddenly feels guilty and inadaquit*

I remember when they tried showing us Clash of the Titans in school, and my mom pitched a fit and wouldn’t alow me to watch it. I often wondered why since she rented Flight of Dragons at least once every three days for me from the age of 5 to 9. I gues she never payed attention to the fact that the movie involved wizards and dragons using magic to fight off a terrible dark wizard.

I remember being fascinated by the dark wizard Omidan...then again he was voiced by James Earl Jones /shudder

I love Flight of the Dragons. A friend showed it to me years ago and I found it on DVD a year ago and it's in my collection now. :) I love the cast of that movie.

Gosh, sounds like your mom was an *informed* Christian. Titans wasn't a "make-believe" fantasy movie, it was straight-out Greek mythology: genuine religion.

Actually, I think it was more of a 'cartoons are harmless' for the Dragons movie, since it was animated...

And as far as Christians are concerned...well most feel anything that portrays any religion that isn't theirs, is not something for the kids to see. I only know very few Christians that actually do research on other religions.

I can say this confidently because, I am a Christian. However, I'm also an American. So I also beileve in equal rights. It's very wrong for me to talk about my religion without being open to other people's. I really hate it when people try to shove religion down other people's throats.

I absolutely *love* Jerry Goldsmith's score for Legend. I haven't seen the movie in years, but the CD is in the player pretty frequently. Just beautiful.
