Thanksgiving

Of all the horribledays, Thanksgiving is by far my favourite. There are no expectations on Thanksgiving, just that warm snuggly feeling of gratitude for all the good things in your life. And no matter how bad it is, there are good things for which to be thankful. I'm thankful for friends and family. I'm thankful that I'm not published. I'm thankful for sweet potatoes and pumpkin pie. I'm thankful for the Internet and the friends I've made there. And I'm thankful for finally getting over the pain of betrayal after so much work and faithfulness. I'm working on it truly. I'm thankful for Aunt Tudi and my Mother Unit, who has helped me so much this past year. I'm thankful for the doctors who will see me and treat me for my various health issues. And I'm thankful for still being able to walk despite my knee problems. So yeah, this is my Thanksgiving post. Tomorrow, I'll be too busy stuffing myself silly with good food to write a Thanksgiving post, so I'm doing it early.

Thanksgiving was always my nightmare time...all the food of the kinds that made me ill but refusal not allowed, all the intense extremes of perfect manners expected and relatives saying cruel things to one another in honey tones. It's not as bad now my grandmother( malicious old bat who delighted in setting everyone at each other's throats)is thankfully dead, but the damage is done for me. And I still hate most of the food( pumpkin pie and Chicken-in-A-Biskit crackers excepted). So it's always very strange to me when I hear things like this.

That sounds atrocious. I'm so sorry. My family was always so small and so hungry, we were just happy to gnaw on something good together.

Well, I mean, I'm glad for the good stuff your thankful for. I just personally despise thanksgiving. I hate to cook, I hate the stress of being around family. I hate that my friends can never hang out cause they are all busy being with THEIR families. Yuck yuck yuck. Gimme Christmas any day!

I'm not too fond of the red/green christmas music commercialism fiasco. But I just cannot get over the excitement of the idea of people giving me presents. Typically, I tend to give much more than I am gifted with - but I dunno ... just can't shake the "Ooh! Presents!" feeling, lol.
