I know it's evil of me to giggle every time I come across reports of how Terminator: Salvation is flopping at the box office, which is probably the reason why I keep looking out for more reports. From the moment I saw Christian Bale in Velvet Goldmine, I despised him. His taking the role of Batman further ruined that character for me, which had already begun a slow downhill journey after Michael Keaton left the role. My love of and need for schadenfreude was spoon fed the hope that his star may be falling when that tape of him losing his temper was released to the news media. I'd like to think that people finding him out for the shit head he truly is, is reason for the poor showing for his latest film at the box office. I hope this is the beginning of his star not just falling out of the heavens, but plunging.

For the life of me, I can't understand why anyone would think the man is handsome, talented, or anything else. I've heard the arguments that I really need to see American Psycho before I pass judgment, but I don't. I got a vibe off him from the moment I saw him. It had nothing to do with his appearance or his "ability" to act. The guy is bad news, that's what I perceive. That dude on the set of Terminator: Salvation would probably agree with me. I'm sure I'd enjoy American Psycho if Christian Bale weren't in it. I have a weakness for serial killers and dragons so, if I'm incapable of enjoying Reign of Fire because I'm too busy hating on Christian Bale, I'm pretty sure the same will go for American Psycho.

So how can I watch The Dark Knight? That's easy. The Joker so far outshines Batman in the movie, it's as if Christian Bale isn't even in it. And, now, I only watch the Joker scenes anyway, most of which have nary a hint of Batman in them. Plus I get to see Bale as Batman get his ass kicked a couple of times, so that heartened me quite a bit. If there were more movies made where Christian Bale receives a serious beat-down, I may watch more Bale movies.

And, to end cryptically just for fun, here's hoping FollowFriday means what I think it does. If it does, it's gonna be a long four days. Great Goddess, grant me patience NOW.

so,let me get this straight...you hate/dislike Bale?Just because you saw Velvet Goldmine?
You see,I haven't watched this movie yet,but I think is the one that he kissed Ewan McGregor or something like that.
Anyways, could you tell me why you didn't liked the movie?and why you dislike Bale?

I love him.Since BB (Batman Begins) and TDK,and I've been watching his other movies (The Prestige,American Psycho, etc etc) and I think he's awesome.

Anyway, everyone have their own opinions, and i'm not here to change yours.Firstly because it's impossible, secondly because if you like Bale or not, that's none of my business.

Oh,I wonder what FollowFriday means.I'm hoping that it is *FINALLY* his new video. It's been sooo long since he updated.WE NEED MOAR VIDS,RITE NAAAAO.

(p.s: Bale icon for 3 reasons:
1 - I like him
2 - I like his Bale Out
3 - I feel like baleing out LOL sorry. We're still friends, the only thing is that I'm a srz bizness Bale Fan and i don't know,i feel doing it.)

No, I've hated him from the moment I first saw him, which just happened to be in 'Velvet Goldmine.' It didn't have anything to do with his character or the movie, which I enjoyed as much as I could, what with being too busy hatin' on him. Eddie Izzard is in the movie, which helps save it in part. And I do love me some Ewan MacGregor (even if he is a Jedi). It's just a vibe I got from Bale from the moment I saw him, and that vibe is just as strong now as it was then. I've never seen 'Batman Begins' and I don't intend to see it. No desire whatsoever.

If the man came in parts, you'd be welcome to my part, 'cos I want no part of him.

::looks at calendar and checks clock:: Is it Friday yet? How about now? And now? Damn.

I've been a fan of Christian Bale ever since he starred in Steven Spielberg's EMPIRE OF THE SUN at the age of 13. Incredibly impressive performance for one so young. I'm with you that I don't think he's as good as Michael Keaton (hell, nobody is) but he's better than George Clooney and Val Kilmer (who wasn't as good as Keaton but he came close)

As for the incident on set, I cut the guy slack. It was an isolated incident and as with most incidents it was blown way the hell out of proportion. In fact, the producer of the movie said in a TV interview that they guy Bale yelled at had no business walking around on the set while the cameras were rolling. Bale apologized to the guy and they were cool afterwards.

There's plenty of other incidents that happen on a movie set that makes that look like a kid's playground squabble. I love the stories Carrie Fisher tells about the filming of THE BLUES BROTHERS. I was wondering how the hell the movie ever got to be finished.

And I'm really going to piss you off now, beautiful...I think that Aaron Eckhart's performance as Harvey Dent/Two-Face was just as powerful as Heath Ledger's and he should have gotten an Academy Award nomination as well.

From: [identity profile] tinhuviel.livejournal.com
I loved Aaron Eckhart as Harvey. He's my second favourite character in TDK. I'm with you to a certain point. I think the guy was brilliant! So, no I'm not pissed off. Well, no more so than normal, but that has nothing to do with your comments. :D

As for Bale, I can't help but think that his publicised outburst isn't isolated. There's something about him that screams uhm.... SHIT HEAD .... to me. And I can't compare him to the other Batmans because I've never seen any of the other Batman movies. Remember that vow of mine to never watch a Batman movie without Keaton in the title role? Well, as you can see, I kinda broke my own vow (you can blame the Mother Unit) with TDK, but I've not seen any of the other movies since 'Batman Returns.'

I'm glad you like Christian Bale. It helps take the pressure off me to like him. ::smirks mischievously::

What, you mean they haven't publicized over there the incident where he got arrested for a ruckus with his mother and sister in Wales? As far as I can tell, from (always questionable) media reports and my own instincts, the guy is a first class a**hole.

Which doesn't necessarily keep me from enjoying his performance, but I think he can be a very poor actor. Haven't seen American Psycho, liked him in Reign of Fire, thought he was really good in Prestige. Don't like him as Batman and thought he was awful in Equilibrium (which was disappointing and awful in lots of ways, should have been a great movie).

Follow Friday, properly #followfriday, is a Twittism. It's where, on Friday - funny that - Tweeters suggest various of their own followees to be followed (added). It is one of the geeky trends I avoid strenuously on the site. I recently found I've been on there a year, making me an early adopter. Happily I still only interact directly with about 25 people. Rather than the hundreds, if not thousands that many collect like stamps.

Oh also, whilst I realise from the above that your take on Christian Bale is entirely negative, I think his best film is The Machinist. But you would only understand why if you watched it and I feel that's unlikely.

I'm not familiar with Bale, and I didn't think I'd seen anything with him in it, but then I reread what you said about The Dark Knight. Oh, he was Batman in that one? Hmm. I hardly remember what he looked like. I recall that I didn't have a problem with him in the role, so much as he was, well, unmemorable. That's too bad, really. But then there never was a Batman that I was really impressed with, Keaton included. It must be that they're always overshadowed by the suit. Or the villians.

I was deeply shocked by Michael Keaton's ability to play Batman and grieved for the character when he no longer donned the suit. I wish Bale were unmemorable, but I hate him too much not to notice him. Sad, eh?

Well, if it makes you feel better, he plays a sociopathic jerk in American Psycho, so maybe he'll just fulfill your expectations of him in the movie. :D Honestly, I get the same feeling about Bale and feel he's probably more than an unfeeling ass in real life. But his character in AP just fits him like a glove.

It's all good. I'm fairly certain I have the same level of hatred for the cast of any of MTV/VH-1's reality cast members.

As was said above, sometimes you just don't like someone and there's no fixing it. And why should you? I love the man, but I never try to argue you into changing your mind. :)

ok, well, i like bale. not love, not even really fan in that i'd seek out something he was in and watch it. but i thought he made a decent batman, and i loved him in american psycho. to the point where i read the book, and it made me rather queasy. not in a good way. the movie is WAAAY lite compared to the book. no rats up the va-jayjay, tyvm... *shudder*

but i'm not gonna push you to check him out cause you're missing something, or whatever, cause i have people who are trying to do that to me with a couple of tv shows that i'm just predisposed to hate cause of their hype.

will you agree with me that cillian murphy is fuckin hawt tho? poor scarecrow never got enough screen time, imho ;)

Terminator...was a HUGE disappointment for me. #1 - I do like Christian Bale, so I was hoping he would be a good John Conner. But when Edward Furlong makes a better one - OMG! Dude. #2) While much better than that drek that was T3 - not saying much on that...it just didn't deliver. Which sucked for me - because since the first Terminator the part that interested me WAS THE FUTURE...so, when I finally got it...kinda like lusting after some random super model forever then finally getting the chance and finding she has a cock...AND it is bigger than yours!!!!
