I think you and I are the only ones to shake up the Status Quo and choose LOTR over the Star Wars Trilogy.
SIGH.
And number 24? SO saw that coming. (If you'll pardon the phrasing.)

I didn't think that would come as a surprise to anyone here. Hah! As for LOTR, it was perfect in every way. If Lucas had chosen better storylines and characters for his first three episodes, I probably would have chosesn Star Wars since it introduced me to the Geek World. But no, Lucas had to be a Jedi nudnick, so he has to go away and Peter Jackson becomes the King of All that's Cool. Amen.

Amen indeed!
And I love all of Peter Jackson's old school Zombie stuff as well. Bad Taste (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0092610/) and Dead Alive (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0103873/) were two of my favorites.
Star Wars was great, but it just didn't engage me as much as LOTR did. And I'm DYING to see what the Hobbit looks like. Del Toro and Jackson? Good Lord and Lady, my movie geek girl heart might just explode.

I didn't watch Dead Alive in the proper mindset and was horrified by how bad it was. When I heard that Peter Jackson was directing LOTR, I about near soiled myself with disgust, I hated him so much. I was wrong. WRONG, I say, WRONG!

Heh!
If you think Dead Alive was bad, watch Bad Taste. It redefines low budget. But it has the BEST Dialogue! "The Bastards have Landed!" indeed.

I find myself excited about the Andy Serkis bits more than anything else. I think Mr. Serkis is amazing.

Me as well. I absorbed all the "making of" stuff from LOTR and was just gobsmacked at all the stuff he went through to bring Gollum to the screen. And everything he's done since has been good as well.

Plus he's actually very good-looking, which is always a plus.

By the way-- Tim Burton to direct the Chalice? Stroke of genius, that is. Especially after seeing "Sweeney Todd".

I haven't seen that yet, but I want to. If he's let me help in the casting, I'd be a happy camper.

From: [identity profile] dprescott.livejournal.com
Yeah - I am back.

But sorry the Elves didn't do much for me...NOW if I were in prison. That might be another story. See pg. 88 of deliverance ;-)
