Generally speaking, I think you should throw in all the bits. You wrote them for a reason, they have something to say.
The little vignette, however,I'm less sure of. If you put it in, I'll read it in context, and see whether it further illuminates Cadmus, or whether it feels more like you're going for the American Pie of vampire stories.
