Here at the End of All Things

Of late, I've been very conscientious of people dying or retiring from "important positions." It's as though a changing of the guard is occurring in secret right under our noses. The Old Guard realises that their contributions to a once hopeful world filled with the promise of Humanity realising our full potential are now obsolete and bereft of power of Spirit. And so they fade to a harder, less-intelligent, angry child who carries the flag of woe, desperation, and uncertainty.
I know it has to go this way. I realise that we're entering the last days of a Great Cycle and the Crone must have Her blood and the fealty of those strong enough to endure the transformation. But it's still very sad.
Being an Apocalyptic Pagan, I watch for signs and portents. I massage the dark undercurrents of national and international news. And I weep as much as I rejoice that all of this will end.
Before a new beginning, an End must come. Those to whom it is entrusted to herald in this new age of death are being placed in seats of power now. Hope is a rare commodity and Despair is in abundance.
As I hear about the horrors of Rwanda and speak with folks from New Orleans, I understand that Rosa Parks had done what she could and it was now time for her to go. The era of rights and fighting for those rights has left us. We're now in the era of blood.
The Crone is menstruating and the tide will be too strong for all of us to hold on. But I'm glad to be with my friends and loved ones, both in RL and online, "here at the end of all things."
