Subject: Lighterthief News March 2010
Well- astonishingly busy times in the darkness of the Lighterthief bubble
Firstly – Ape House – my kindly and generous record label have released a download only album to raise money for the people of Haiti- it features a remix of a Lighterthief track-“Falling into the Future’- by long time collaborator Rob Szeliga –(winging his sonic sorcery all the way from Japan )and also a new track by the Clubmen- a brand new project that I m working on .

Secondly on 19th March at the Vic in Swindon there is a launch night for an EP featuring the one and only Natasaha Griffiths. Tash has been singing with the Lighterthief live band for over 18 months and sang on the track " Scream Baby "as well some backing on "Up on Hi"- and its now time for her to release an EP of her beautiful blues-tinged wailing and howling. The EP feature 4 tracks produced in the Lighterthief complex- its 4 quid to get in and a free shiny CD for every person who attends-

Thirdly- Mr Matthew Kilford- wizard of the dissonant keyboard flourish and vocalist on the track "Killing Time"- is very close to securing a spot at this years Glastonbury festival in his main guise as singer /songwriter of this parish. If you haven’t voted yet – please do and then do it again- voting ends this week .

Fourthly – exciting news for April- Jen Olive – the Albuquerque based queen of strange rhythms and harmonies is visiting the UK for a small tour to promote her brilliant album Warm Robot released on Ape House- she s been vocalist on the Lighterthief tracks " Up on Hi "and "My Dream Sea"- and her first ever gig in the UK is at The Vic on Thursday April 8th-
She ll be playing a solo acoustic set- support from Matthew Kilford-
In other news- The Alfonz are about to embark on their second tour- with a new single under their slowly expanding belts-
Plus I ve been really pleased to do some work with the Black Nerds Network- I mastered a track for a video made by an old friend Ogheno- its a tribute to Fela Kuti
