And Then There Were Three
Jan. 17th, 2011 11:23 amSheba's Cushing's disease has gotten worse. She's vomiting two to three times a day and is losing muscle mass like crazy. She's also bleeding from the anus and mouth, fresh red blood, which is never a good sign. Aunt Tudi and I took her to Doc this morning and he's keeping her to run some tests to see if anything at all can be done. After the loss of Fitzgerald, I'm not sure how much more we can take losing our furbabies. I'll be able to deal with the loss of Sheba better than Aunt Tudi because Sheba and Aunt Tudi are bonded. Aunt Tudi would do just about anything to keep the dog with her but, sometimes, it's the humane thing to let the animal go. I don't know if now is the time for that, but we need to be prepared for that eventuality.
If we lose Sheba, we'll only have three dogs left, two of them geriatric. Chester is 11 and Riley is close to that. I have no idea how old Toby is. I think he's too ornery to ever die.

My Computer is Falling Apart
Jan. 17th, 2011 12:38 pmThe keys on my computer keep coming off and I can't reattach them. How can a writer work like this? Now my backspace key has fallen off. I'm so frustrated I could scream. It's like like, if things can go wrong, they will go wrong. I'm not certain if my computer is still under warranty or still is covered by the extra insurance I took out on it. With my luck, it isn't and I'll just have to get used to using the thing with missing keys. Why the hell is this happening to me? What I'm afraid of is that I'm going to end up without a computer with upcoming books to be released. What am I going to do then? I can't very well conduct business from the library like I'll need to do. Something is going to have to give.
Sheba Update
Jan. 17th, 2011 03:28 pmDr. Patch is wanting to do some chest x-rays and run a few more tests overnight. He's gonna let us know something concrete tomorrow but, right now, things are still up in the air. Her blood counts are good, which is a good sign, though, so we're trying to maintain a positive outlook on the situation. Aunt Tudi is understandably concerned, but I'm trying to keep a stiff upper lip for her sake.
