20. What are your favorite character interactions to write?
When Kelat and Cadmus interact, sparks fly. The air is heavy with magick as they battle silently to take the upper hand, while they do the same thing verbally. One many levels the two are equal, which makes this particularly scary for Kelat because she knows that, if she loses this battle of wills, Cadmus will immediately move in and kill her.

Boring Saturday

So far, I've gone to Lyman and picked up Aunt Tudi's medicine for the month, and swung by Food Lion to get us a handful of food. Aunt Tudi and I were planning on going to Wal-Mart for the food run today, but Aunt Tudi isn't up to it and I'm never up to shenanigans like that, so that's been postponed until tomorrow, maybe the next day. So I'm back at home now, wishing I were at Dragon*Con with a pack of my homies making mischief throughout the con just so people would have no doubt that the Sith have made themselves present and accounted for at Dragon*Con. I got word from dr_nebula that Ray Park cancelled his appearance at the con. He was really good for doing that during the Darth Maul craze. It got to the point that con-goers never believed he'd show and usually they were right. That's a bad reputation to have, Ray! Better straighten your Wushu arse out lest you lose your fanbase. Without that, you have nothing in the entertainment industry.

Seventeen years ago today, Granny died. Aunt Tudi, who was her daughter, is trying to to keep herself busy and not think about it, but she's already mentioned the anniversary to me, which indicates to me that she's dwelling on it. I wish I had the money to take her out today, maybe for a movie and dinner out. But I can't do that this year. In the end, I think I see DVDs in our future.

The Waiting Is the Hardest Part

Tom Petty got it right. Now that's all be said and done about The Chalice, all that's left is for the printers to do the Voodoo that they do so well, to Sophie's satisfaction. Not sure how long it'll take, but the release month is still September, so I"m guessing not long. Me? I'm the impatient little git saying "are we there yet?" in the backseat of the car. The whole situation has me jumpier than a virgin at a prison rodeo. I know that once the book goes live, I'm gonna obsess about how good or how bad it's going. I swear, my hair will fall out before all this is over.

Eh Wot?

They just did a blurb on the news about Dragon*Con. Looked to see if I could recognise anyone, all to no avail. The con is in full throttle now and will continue on through Monday. I want to go so bad, even my taste buds are demanding to taste the air of Atlanta. Alas, it is not to be, much to my disappointment. There's always next year and 2012. After that, I'm afraid human conventions will be a bit scarce on the ground, if all goes as this Alpaca-Liptican hopes. So we'll see how that goes. In the interim, I can hope to make the 11 Con and hope that Ray Park will be there and not bail at the last minute...that naughty boy.

My Birthday Is Right Around the Corner

My birthday wishes for 9-10-2010

• That no one mentions that my birthday is right before 9-11. I know that. Can't we just get by for now, eh?
• "The Chalice" is published and in my mits.
• Some kind soul gets me the Apple 140 gig iPod ~ oh the damage I could do with that.
• People with money study my Amazon wish list and behave accordingly
• A trip out to California to hang with the Mother Unit (we really need some quality time), meet acook and scottmcclure.
• A one-way trip to England

I'll be good to get a passing happy birthday from anyone besides Aunt Tudi. But a goil can dream, can't she? Ain't you neveh hoid of dreamin'?
