Gifts and Immunities
It may have been noticed during the reading of The Chalice that the Vampires in the narrative didn’t all possess the same gifts, nor were they subject to the same limitations. The Vampires in the story are based not only on the “traditional” Western conception of the vampire, but on many myths and legends from around the globe. The vrykolakas of Greece, for instance, had no problem with walking around in the daytime. There was actually a story about one vrykolakas who continued his occupation of roofing after his transformation. He’d roof houses by day and drink blood by night.
When I began creating the core myth of The Chalice, I decided that the Vampires would be brought into the Blood carrying different abilities and “immunities.”
Let us first examine the common limitations modern vampires are said to have.
