Tin's Bright Corner of the World
May. 21st, 2003 01:58 pmSo I haven't slept well for the past two nights. I've got red blotches on my eyes, which are rolling around in my head like two hyperactive marbles. When I heard about the Canadian case of Mad Cow Disease, it triggered a memory of an article on Fatal Famial Insomnia that I read a few months back. I remember reading that FFI is related to Mad Cow Disease as they are both prion diseases. Anyway, it's probably got to be the worst disease a person could have and actually sounds more like an ancient curse than a real disease. In a nutshell, this is what it does as taken from an article by Ann M. Akroush:
( Counting Sheep in Hell )
I guess I'll be thinking happy thoughts about FFI as I lie awake tonight with the heebie-jeebies.

Because of the constant rain, I have been unable to cut grass this week (thus the missing traditional Wednesday bitch about it). We had a brief respite from the rain yesterday but guess who was at work? ayuh...
So it's raining again and will continue to do so through tomorrow, clearing up on Friday. I won't be able to mow on Friday as Llew, Aunt Tudi, and I are scheduled to skip town early that morning and make a mad dash to Charleston for 3 days, returning on Monday.
By the time I get back home, the grass is going to be clinging tenaciously to my buttocks.
Should I try to find a yard boy to clear cut it or try to do it all by myself? And what about the small tribe of Pygmies that I am certain will lay claim to my backyard in my absence? How can I politely request that they relocate to a more indigenous locale? Otherwise, that drumming will keep me up at night and, since I'm already paranoid about Fatal Familial Insomnia, I don't think it wise to allow them to squat.
I love rain. I adore it! But it's screwing with my schedule this week and I just don't have the bloody time to be bothered.

The Feudal Mistress just brought me a Weird Al Yankovic press photo. Either she's wanting to figuratively bury the hatchet to a degree or I'm about to get canned.
Either way, it's a damned fine photo of my Al. Gotta love guys who can play the accordian. What I'd like to see is a remake of 'Duelling Banjos' with Barry Andrews and Weird Al going at it. We could call it 'Squabbling Squeeze Boxes'.
Still though, re: The Feudal Mistress.....I'm almost impressed!
