Weekend Excitement
Apr. 28th, 2003 08:02 pmThis is the first chance I've had to really update my journal. Work today was horrendous as everybody wanted everything all at the same time. I really dislike days like that at work. Stress is just piled on.
Anyway, it was a groovy weekend. It started out really lazily and relaxed. My first Saturday free of Telesuck! I had a marathon self-pampering session with lots of skin treatments and other lovely activities, then I was out to plant pansies (a gift from Llew) and wash the car.
Was just finishing up when Llew, Melanie, Billy, and Destiny arrived. They got the house in Duncan and were all a-dither! They all visited for a while and then the kids left, leaving Llew, Aunt Tudi, and myself. We decided to go to New China for peanut chicken.
Upon returning home, Llew and I watched 'Original Sin' with Angelina Jolie and Antonio Banderas. It was pretty darned good and Antonio was, as always, luscious to watch and listen to, but I actually longed for an encore viewing of 'The Secretary'. I think I'm addicted....
Sunday I got my second official RC flying lesson. Llew tried me on the buddy box with the hand-launch glider. I didn't get much from that since the flights were so short. So then he brought out the zagi and got it way up in the air before he turned over the controls. I got to turn hither and yon and even did a couple of loop-de-loops! When the zagi got closer to the ground, Llew took over and showed me a few of the finer points of control, then bade me take the radio back. He said "You can do anything you want......EXCEPT THAT!!!" as I turned a hard left and threw the plane into a violent and brief tailspin that concluded with a spectacular CRASH!
Llew is now in the process of repairing his badly abused airplane. Oops! But he's a patient teacher and I'm an eager student, so we'll be trying again very soon.
What's so cool is that we'll get to try a lot more now that he'll be living about 5 miles away! Wow ~ the beginning of a NEW ERA. What's so cool about it is that the new era begins on Bealtainne. How significant is that, eh?

Answering Service Capers
Apr. 28th, 2003 08:16 pmI talked to Carol Ann on Saturday. We've made an arrangement where she will continue to tell me the bizarre calls of the week and I'll record them in my journal for posterity's sake. So here's the first installment of:
A fella called in on one of the psychiatric lines begging for help. Carol Ann asked what his problem was and he told her that he had gotten married about 3 hours prior to his call. "My wife is in the other room getting ready for us to have sex....we've been together for 6 years and this will be our first time....and I'm scared to death!"
Uh.....quoi?
Carol Ann asked for a name and phone number so she could have the therapist call him back. "I can't do that. This is a private line. Can I just talk to you?"
Carol Ann is many things, and I'm certain she'd make a great counsellor, but I don't think she was willing to counsel a male virgin on his honeymoon. She politely told him that she couldn't help and would be unable to have the therapist call him without a phone number.
I hope he did well...

Atlanta/Athens
Apr. 28th, 2003 08:22 pmWell, looks like I may be driving to Atlanta and/or Athens in late July or early August. I double-checked the list of tentative gig towns and there it is right below Memphis! I've already told Barry that, if he gets gigs in both Memphis and Atlanta/Athens, I'll be at both shows, hopefully with as many of my posse as possible.
I still think it would be more than deeply surreal to meet the man I became so instantly enthralled with when I saw him dusted blue and in a toga. I'm still bouncing between excitement at the idea and mortification at the very thought of our meeting.

Oy Oy Oy.
