V had a huge impact on my life. I remember seeing it when it was on NBC originally, and when a local independent station rebroadcast the pair of them around 1989.
Now I've gotten to enjoy it again, finally, on DVD. Fantastic stuff. Well...minus, perhaps, when it descends into the weird "star child" business near the end. Felt kinda...eeh...a bit much compared to the 'realism' of the rest of the show, but that was mostly because Ken Johnson (http://kennethjohnson.us/V-Orig.html) (creator) didn't write 'Final Battle' (or so he said on the commentary track). But otherwise it has yet to be topped.
NBC recently said they wanted to revisit V, so they contacted Ken. He wrote a screenplay for a "next generation" of sorts with most of the key players signing on, but unfortunately they're dicking him around and now they want "a remake" before they do a sequel. What complete assholes.
Also of note, but hardly new, is this script (http://slithytoves.sytes.net/~dthiel/visitor/visitorrebirth.htm) penned by the creator of Babylon 5 sometime in the early 90's or so (I think). Damned good for the intro alone, and a real shame it will never be realized on the screen.
