We went to pick up Aunt Tudi's antibiotic, but the pharmacy didn't have the prescription. It turns out that their phone system is knackered because of the ice storm and they were unable to access any phone-ins from doctors. So I had to take Aunt Tudi on to Urgent Care where they told her that her Garmonbozia had gone beyond the Dark Man's wildest dreams and had become Voiled Karletus. Actually, I don't know what Voiled Karletus is, since I think it was an invented thing for Barry Andrews' Parc Stic (I need to ask him about that). It's also a title of one of the Shriekback songs on Cormorant and B sounds dreadfully severe and menacing in this one. I happened to be listening to it when Aunt Tudi came out with the news that the doctors were sending her home with four prescriptions and a priest, so her Garmonbozia was upgraded to Voiled Karletus. Actually, the skank I gave her has turned into an acute upper respiratory infection and a serious case of bronchitis. This is on top of her head congestion and general bleeeeyiiiccccchhhh. We went by Eckerd and got her drugs and now we're home, a little over three hours and a load o'money later. Oy vey.

She's gonna drug up and go to bed. I'm gonna sit around and bleed until I pass out. It's fun at our house. Lots of fun.

You poor dears!

Upper respiratory infections are the worst!

Next year I will lay off giving out un-asked for advice, but until then, I'm a loose canon in the guise of a Guerilla Dear Abby:

if you can bear to leave the house, and if there is a health food store in convenient distance, pick up some refrigerated Acidophilis. Taken 3 times daily, (2 capsules), it can prevent the lovely diarhea cha cha cha, and other assorted side affects that come along with antibiotics.

Also, either blueberry tea, (Celestial Seasonings), or ginger tea, (which is best if you throw in a bag of plain, preferably decaf, tea with it), calms smooth muscle. Meaning your uterus is less likely to do esp. harsh cha cha cha movements.
